Flip Art with Cranmore School – Forget the Paint

In conjunction with Samsung UK and three British Schools, The Digital Line ran the Flip Art digital art competition in 2021.

We not only had the pleasure of viewing some wonderfully creative art images, but we also reached the imagination of hundreds of students keen to try this new digital technology.

The Samsung Flip 2 board is an interactive, touchscreen digital display that can mimic the creativity of an artist’s brush. When using the brush mode, the Samsung Flip 2 recognises a wide range of thicknesses, so you can create art at the stroke of a brush. Water and oil painting modes allow different styles and textures, while Flip 2 also gives you a full, vibrant colour palette, even allowing for flexible colour.

Cranmore is one of Surrey’s leading schools, with a long history of achievement, breadth, and excellence, all provided within their fabulous 25-acre site at West Horsley.

Following the recent merger with St Teresa’s, Cranmore will be offering a diamond-model all-through education from Nursery to A Levels, with a fully integrated curriculum and a smooth path through the two schools. Cranmore will host the Early Years for both schools, then there will be single-sex prep and senior schools at West Horsley and Effingham. From 2025 the Sixth Form at St Teresa’s will become co-educational, completing the pathway.

Technology, Programming, and Engineering are very important at Cranmore, and pupils learn an amazing array of skills from Robotics, 3D printing, programming, and web design as well as visiting new worlds and creating resources in Virtual Reality. Cranmore is also planning a major new STEM building as part of this drive for 21st-century learning.

Pupils and staff are all excited to be working with The Digital Line in collaboration with Samsung on the ‘Flip Art’ competition and find many synergies, especially in regards to pushing the boundaries of what technology is capable of and how it can positively impact education.

Congratulations to our winners Max, Billy, and Finlay.
